L'OR (French for "Gold") was created in France in 1992 with the ambition to bring the best coffee in the world to its consumers. The brand rose to international prominence in 2010 when it launched its first espresso capsules compatible with Nespresso machine systems, a move that democratized high-quality espresso pods beyond the Nestle ecosystem.
Today, the brand is owned by JDE Peet's, a global coffee and tea powerhouse headquartered in the Netherlands. While the beans for this specific product are sourced from Brazilian estates (as part of their Origins Collection), the processing and manufacturing into aluminum capsules typically take place in advanced production facilities in France and the Netherlands. JDE Peet's was formed following the merger between D.E Master Blenders 1753 and the coffee division of Mondelez International, and it is largely controlled by the investment firm JAB Holding Company.
