Founded in 1991 by Chris and Michelle Michael, Meaco is a British company that initially specialized in monitoring and control equipment for museums and art galleries. This professional heritage informed their shift into domestic air treatment, where they became renowned for developing quiet, energy-efficient solutions specifically designed for the unique maritime climate of the United Kingdom.
While Meaco is a proudly British brand headquartered in Guildford, Surrey, their products—including the award-winning Zambezi model pictured—are manufactured in China. The design and engineering process remains centered in the UK, ensuring that the technology meets high European standards for performance and energy consumption (the Zambezi was famously the result of three years of intensive research).
Meaco remains an independent, family-owned British enterprise. It has grown from a specialized domestic supplier to a major international player in the air treatment market, exporting to over 20 countries across Europe and South Africa. The company is particularly noted for its philanthropic efforts; for every Zambezi model sold, a donation is made to the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation to support elephant conservation in Africa.
