Penfolds is one of Australia's most iconic and prestigious wine producers, with a history dating back to 1844. Established by Dr. Christopher and Mary Penfold at the Magill Estate in South Australia, the brand has become synonymous with premium winemaking, particularly through its famous 'Grange' and Bin series wines. The Bin 389, often referred to as 'Baby Grange,' is a classic Australian blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz produced using fruit sourced from premier wine regions across South Australia.
Today, Penfolds is the flagship brand of Treasury Wine Estates (TWE), a major global wine company headquartered in Melbourne, Victoria. While the brand has expanded its production to include vineyards in California, Bordeaux, and China to cater to global demand, the core of its portfolio remains deeply rooted in Australian viticulture. The ownership of Penfolds has transitioned through various corporate entities, including Southcorp and the Foster's Group, before being demerged into Treasury Wine Estates in 2011.
