Naked Juice was founded in 1983 in Santa Monica, California, by Jimmy Barela and David Belinsky, who initially sold the fresh fruit juices under the name 'Naked Juice' on the beaches of Santa Monica. The brand's philosophy focused on providing pure, unadulterated juices without added sugars or preservatives.

In 2006, the brand was acquired by PepsiCo, which significantly expanded its distribution and product range. Following a strategic shift in PepsiCo's portfolio, the Naked brand was sold in 2021 to PAI Partners, a European private equity firm. The brand is now managed by Tropicana Brands Group, a joint venture between PAI Partners and PepsiCo, where PAI Partners holds the majority stake. While originally a Californian startup, Naked is now produced in various facilities across North America and Europe to serve local markets.
