Milka Alpine Milk Chocolate

Milka is one of Europe's most iconic chocolate brands, instantly recognizable by its distinctive lilac-colored packaging and the famous Milka cow mascot. The brand's history dates back to 1825 when Swiss chocolatier Philippe Suchard founded his first confectionery. However, the Milka brand itself was officially launched in 1901 by his successor, Carl Russ-Suchard. The name is a portmanteau of the German words for its primary ingredients: Milch (milk) and Kakao (cocoa).

While the brand has Swiss heritage and is famous for using 100% Alpine milk, the majority of its production has been based in Lörrach, Germany, for over a century. Today, manufacturing spans multiple European countries including Germany, Austria, and Poland to serve global markets. Ownership of the brand transitioned through several corporate mergers over the decades, moving from Suchard to Kraft Foods, and finally to Mondelēz International in 2012. As of 2026, Mondelēz continues to oversee the brand's global distribution, maintaining its status as a leader in the international snacking industry.
