The brand name itself is a portmanteau derived from her husband's family name (Cox) and their daughter's name (Angela), reflecting its deep-rooted family heritage in the English countryside.

Over the decades, Copella evolved from a local farm-based business into a national staple. In 1991, the brand was acquired by Tropicana, which later became a part of the global PepsiCo portfolio. However, in a major strategic shift in 2021/2022, PepsiCo sold a majority stake in its juice business, including Copella, to the private equity firm PAI Partners. Today, the brand is managed under the Tropicana Brands Group, which oversees its manufacturing and distribution internationally while maintaining its British identity.
