Grapes

Grapes (Vitis vinifera) are one of the world's oldest and most widely cultivated fruit crops, primarily used for fresh consumption, wine production, and dried fruit. While they originated in the Near East and Mediterranean regions thousands of years ago, they are now grown globally across various climates. Grapes are not owned by a single brand but are a generic agricultural commodity produced by thousands of independent farmers and large-scale agricultural corporations. Major global producing countries include China, Italy, the United States, France, and Spain.

In the retail market, grapes are often sold under private labels or agricultural brands such as Sun World, Dole, or Del Monte. Because they are seasonal, the specific origin of a bunch of grapes in a grocery store alternates between the Northern and Southern Hemispheres to ensure year-round availability. The ownership of the specific product depends entirely on the agricultural firm or distributor managing and branding the harvest for and individual supply chain.
