Salomon is a globally recognized brand specializing in outdoor sports equipment, particularly known for its high-performance trail running and hiking footwear. Founded in 1947 in Annecy, France, by François Salomon and his family, the company originally started as a ski edge manufacturer. Over decades, it expanded into ski bindings, boots, and eventually into the summer outdoor market with its iconic hiking and running shoes.

The brand has undergone several ownership changes in its history. It was acquired by Adidas in 1997, then sold to the Finnish sporting goods group Amer Sports in 2005. Today, Salomon is part of the Amer Sports portfolio, which itself was acquired by a consortium led by ANTA Sports in 2019. While the brand maintains its design and developmental roots in the French Alps (the Annecy Design Center), the manufacturing of its footwear takes place across a global supply chain, primarily in Asian countries like Vietnam, Cambodia, and India to meet global demand.
