Woodford Reserve is a super-premium small-batch Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey. Its production is deeply rooted in history, primarily taking place at the historic Woodford Reserve Distillery in Versailles, Woodford County, Kentucky. This site, which dates back to 1812, is a National Historic Landmark and is one of the oldest distilleries in the state. The whiskey is unique for being made using a combination of traditional copper pot stills at the Woodford Reserve site and column stills at the Brown-Forman Distillery in Shively, Kentucky.
The brand as it is known today was officially introduced in 1996 by the Brown-Forman Corporation, though the heritage of the distilling site spans over two centuries. Brown-Forman has owned and operated the facility since the 1990s, restoring it to its current status as a premier destination on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. The brand has since grown to become one of the most recognized bourbon names globally, often serving as the official bourbon of the Kentucky Derby.
