Solgar is a long-standing premium brand in the nutritional supplement industry, established in 1947 in Manhattan, New York. It is widely recognized for its gold labels and amber glass bottles, which are designed to protect the integrity of the nutrients against heat, light, and moisture. The L-Lysine 1000mg tablets shown in the image are part of their extensive range of amino acids and vitamins.
Historically, Solgar was founded by Nat Colby, Mike Goldfarb, and Carl Zoll. Over the decades, the company has undergone several ownership changes; it was acquired by American Home Products (later Wyeth), then NBTY (Nature's Bounty Co.). In 2021, Nestlé Health Science completed a deal to acquire the main brands of The Nature's Bounty Co., including Solgar. Today, Solgar operates as a key premium brand within the Nestlé Health Science portfolio, maintaining its primary manufacturing and distribution facilities in Leonia, New Jersey, USA.
