HOKA (formerly Hoka One One) is a brand that revolutionized the running shoe industry with its maximalist cushion design. Founded in Annecy, France, the brand was created by Nicolas Mermoud and Jean-Luc Diard, both former Salomon employees, who sought to design a shoe that allowed for faster downhill running. Their oversized outsoles provided a 'rocker' geometry that became a signature of the brand.
In 2013, the brand was acquired by Deckers Brands, a global leader in designing, marketing, and distributing innovative footwear, apparel, and accessories. Under Deckers' ownership, Hoka has expanded from a niche trail-running brand into a mainstream powerhouse in the athletic and lifestyle sectors.
Hoka products are primarily manufactured in Asia, with significant production facilities located in Vietnam, China, and Cambodia. This global supply chain ensures the brand can meet the high demand for its various lines, including the Bondi SR, which is specifically designed for workplace comfort and slip resistance.
