Neutrogena Norwegian Formula is a globally recognized skincare line developed by the brand Neutrogena. The story of this specific 'Norwegian Formula' dates back to the early 1940s when Neutrogena's founder, Emanuel Stolaroff, was inspired by a glycerin-rich hand cream used by Norwegian fishermen to protect their skin from harsh Arctic conditions. This led to the creation of the iconic hand cream and the subsequent expansion into a full range of body care products.
While the brand was originally born in the United States, its manufacturing operations for Europe and the UK often take place in Greece or France. Ownership transitioned significantly in 2023; after being a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson for nearly three decades, Neutrogena was spun off into Kenvue, an independent consumer health company that now manages the legacy of J&J's most famous health and beauty brands.
