Bick's is a historic Canadian brand that specializes in pickles and condiments. It was founded in 1951 by George and Walter Bick, a family of German immigrants who began pickling cucumbers from their farm in Scarborough, Ontario. Over the decades, the brand became Canada's market leader in pickles. Originally produced in Canada, the brand underwent a significant shift in 2011 when its manufacturing facilities in Ontario were closed and production was moved to the United States to optimize global sourcing and manufacturing flexibility.
Today, Bick's is owned by TreeHouse Foods, an American private-label food leader. TreeHouse Foods acquired the brand in 2024 from The J.M. Smucker Company, which had held the brand since 2004. Despite the change in ownership and manufacturing location, Bick's remains a quintessentially Canadian household staple, known for its signature crunch and 'fresh pack' processing technique. The 'Icicles' variety specifically refers to cucumbers sliced into long strips and preserved in a sweet brine, widely popular as a side or garnish for BBQ and sandwiches.
