Seiko is a world-renowned Japanese watchmaker with a history dating back to 1881 when Kintaro Hattori opened a watch and jewelry shop in Tokyo. The Seiko 5 line, featured in the image, was introduced in the 1960s with five key attributes: automatic winding, a day-date display, water resistance, a recessed crown, and a durable case and bracelet.
While Seiko designs and manufactures many of its movements and high-end pieces in Japan, its global operations include manufacturing facilities in Malaysia, Singapore, and China. The brand remains under the ownership of Seiko Group Corporation, a publicly traded Japanese conglomerate that oversees a wide range of electronics and precision instruments. Seiko's reputation is built on its vertical integration, meaning it produces nearly every component of its watches in-house, ensuring quality and precision across their various collections.
