Morlačka Krv is a specialized Marasca cherry liqueur deeply rooted in the traditions of the Dalmatian coast in Croatia. The name translates to 'Morlach's Blood,' referencing the historic Morlach people of the region. This liqueur is crafted using the indigenous Marasca cherry (Prunus cerasus var. Marasca), which thrives in the unique climate and soil of the Zadar region.
The product is manufactured in Croatia, primarily by the Maraska d.d. company based in Zadar. Maraska is one of the most prestigious Croatian beverage producers with a history dating back over five centuries. In 2021, the company underwent a major ownership shift when it was acquired by the Stanić Group, a prominent Croatian distribution and manufacturing conglomerate, ensuring the brand remains under Croatian ownership while expanding its international market reach.
The liqueur is known for its deep red color, characteristic aroma, and sweet yet tart flavor profile, typical of high-quality Maraschino products from the Adriatic region. It represents a significant part of Croatian gastronomic heritage and is a staple in Mediterranean spirits.
