Joules is a quintessentially British lifestyle brand known for its heritage-style clothing, botanical prints, and colorful outdoor wear. Founded by Tom Joule in 1989, the brand initially gained popularity by selling bright, high-quality wellies and country-inspired attire at equestrian and agricultural shows across the UK. Over the decades, it expanded into a full range of womenswear, menswear, childrenswear, and home goods.
While the brand's creative design and heritage are rooted in the United Kingdom, manufacturing is carried out through a global supply chain. Production primarily takes place in countries with extensive textile expertise, including China, India, Bangladesh, Turkey, and Vietnam, to support its diverse product range from knitwear to wax jackets.
In late 2022, after a period of financial restructuring, Joules was acquired by the NEXT plc retail group in a joint venture. This acquisition integrated Joules into one of the UK's most robust retail ecosystems, ensuring the brand's continuity. Today, Joules operates as an independent brand under the umbrella of NEXT, maintaining its distinct British aesthetic while benefiting from the parent company's logistics and digital infrastructure.
