Pinarello is one of the most prestigious names in the cycling world, founded in 1952 by Giovanni Pinarello in Treviso, Italy. The brand has built its reputation on racing excellence, most notably through its long-standing partnership with Team Ineos Grenadiers (formerly Team Sky), achieving numerous Tour de France victories.
While the high-end design, research and development, and the painting and assembly of certain flagship models still take place at the historic headquarters in Villorba, Italy, the manufacturing of the carbon fiber frames is primarily outsourced to specialized facilities in Taiwan and China. This is a common practice among premium bicycle brands to leverage expert carbon manufacturing processes.
In 2016, the brand was acquired by L Catterton, a private equity firm backed by the French luxury conglomerate LVMH (Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton). This transition marked a shift from a family-owned Italian business to becoming part of a global luxury portfolio, though the Pinarello family remains involved in the company's management.
