Alpia is a long-standing German chocolate brand that was first introduced in 1906. It has historically been associated with the city of Cologne and was a signature product of the Stollwerck company, one of Germany's most prominent chocolate manufacturers during the 20th century. The brand is well-known for its distinctive pink packaging and its focus on alpine milk chocolate, often featuring flavors like grape-nut or whole milk.
Following a series of corporate acquisitions, the manufacturing and ownership of Alpia changed hands several times. After many years under the Stollwerck umbrella, which itself was acquired by various international groups including Barry Callebaut, the brand eventually became part of the Katjes Group. Today, Alpia is maintained as a core brand within the portfolio of Stollwerck GmbH, which operates as a subsidiary of the Belgian-based Baronie Group. Production remains largely centered in Germany, ensuring the brand retains its traditional European heritage.
