Tefal is a French cookware and small appliance manufacturer, recognized globally for creating the non-stick cookware category. The brand was founded in 1956 by Marc Grégoire in Sarcelles, France, after he developed a process to bond PTFE (Teflon) to aluminum pans. The name Tefal is a portmanteau of the words 'Teflon' and 'Aluminum'.

While the brand's heritage is deeply rooted in French engineering, its manufacturing footprint has expanded globally. Many of its specialized electric appliances, such as this multicooker, are manufactured in China to leverage large-scale production facilities, though premium cookware ranges continue to be produced in France. Since 1968, Tefal has been a major brand under Groupe SEB, a world leader in small domestic equipment.

Today, Groupe SEB oversees Tefal along with other famous brands like Rowenta, Moulinex, and Krups. The ultimate ownership remains with the French multinational Groupe SEB, headquartered in Écully, France. In the Romanian market, the brand operates through SEB Comercial Romania S.R.L., which handles local distribution and marketing services.
