Neilson is a historic Canadian dairy brand with roots tracing back to William Neilson in 1893. While originally known for its confectionery and ice cream, the dairy operations became a staple of Canadian households throughout the 20th century. Today, Neilson products are primarily manufactured in Canada, ensuring a local supply chain for fresh dairy products distributed across the country.
The brand has undergone several ownership changes in its history. In the late 1940s, it was acquired by George Weston Limited. Later, in 1998, Saputo Inc., a major Montreal-based dairy processor, acquired the dairy division. As of 2024 and beyond, Saputo Inc. remains the ultimate owner and operator of the brand, maintaining its headquarters in Montreal, Quebec. Neilson continues to operate as a prominent label within Saputo's diverse portfolio of Canadian dairy offerings.
