Miracle Whip is a famous salad dressing and sandwich spread that was first introduced in 1933 at the Century of Progress World's Fair in Chicago. Developed by Kraft Foods, it was created as a less expensive alternative to mayonnaise during the Great Depression, using a patented emulsifying machine to create its unique creamy texture and tangy flavor profile. Unlike traditional mayonnaise, Miracle Whip contains added sugar and a proprietary blend of spices, which allows it to be marketed as a 'salad dressing.'
Historically, the brand was a cornerstone of Kraft Foods. Following the corporate split and subsequent mergers of the parent company, the brand is now under different ownership depending on the region. In North America (USA and Canada), Miracle Whip is owned and manufactured by Kraft Heinz. However, for the international markets including Europe (as seen by the Danish labeling on this bottle), the brand rights were transitioned following the corporate reshuffling that led to the creation of Mondelēz International.
Today, the brand is managed globally by Kraft Heinz in its home market. While production originated in the United States, it is now manufactured in multiple locations worldwide to serve local markets. In Europe, the product is often distributed through regional subsidiaries or licensed partners of the ultimate parent company to ensure fresh supply chains and compliance with local food regulations.
