Côte d'Or is a prestigious Belgian chocolate brand founded in 1883 by Charles Neuhaus. Its name and logo, featuring an elephant, refer to the former Gold Coast (now Ghana), which was a primary source of cocoa beans for the brand.
Historically a quintessential Belgian product, the manufacturing process still largely takes place in Brussels, though some production has diversified. Following a series of acquisitions, the brand moved from Belgian family ownership to being part of larger multinational conglomerates. Today, it is a key brand within the portfolio of Mondelēz International, a global leader in snacks and confectionery headquarted in the United States.
