Cool Gear is a prominent American brand recognized for its innovative and colorful hydration and food storage products. Founded in 2000 by Donna and Hank Roth in Plymouth, Massachusetts, the company quickly made a name for itself with its patented freezer gel technology that keeps beverages and food cold for extended periods.

In January 2015, Cool Gear International was acquired by Igloo Products Corp., a move that combined two leaders in the cooling and hydration categories. This ownership shifted again in late 2021 when the Swedish outdoor product giant, Dometic Group AB, acquired Igloo Products Corp. for approximately $677 million. Today, Cool Gear operates as a subsidiary within the Dometic Group, benefiting from a global distribution network while maintaining its brand identity. While design and engineering are primarily based in the United States, large-scale manufacturing is typically handled through contract facilities in China to support its international retail presence.
