Havaianas is an iconic Brazilian brand of rubber flip-flops created in 1962 by Alpargatas. The original design was inspired by the Zori, traditional Japanese sandals made of fabric straps and rice straw soles, which is why the footbed of Havaianas features a texture resembling rice grains. The Brasil Logo model depicted is one of the brand's most recognizable styles, originally launched to celebrate the 1998 World Cup and featuring the Brazilian flag on the strap.

While the brand started as a basic utility item for the working class in Brazil, it transformed into a global fashion phenomenon by the late 1990s. Today, Havaianas are manufactured exclusively in Brazil in the state of Paraíba and exported worldwide. The brand is owned by Alpargatas S.A., which in turn is controlled by a group of Brazilian investment holding companies.
