Nidar confectionery

Nidar is one of Norway's most iconic confectionery brands, with a history dating back to its founding in Trondheim in 1912. The brand has been a staple of Norwegian culture for over a century, producing variety of famous chocolates and candies like Stratos, Laban, and Smash.

Today, Nidar operates out of its historic factory in Trondheim, where the majority of its products are still manufactured. While the brand was originally independent, it eventually became part of the Orkla Group, a leading industrial conglomerate in the Nordics. As of 2024 and looking toward 2026, Nidar remains a flagship brand within Orkla's investment portfolio, maintaining its strong Norwegian identity while benefiting from the distribution and scale of its parent company.
