Toro is one of Norway's most iconic and dominant food brands, established in 1946 by the Rieber & Søn company in Bergen. The brand revolutionized the Norwegian kitchen by introducing high-quality dehydrated food products, most notably its legendary 'Bergensk Fiskesuppe' (Bergen Fish Soup). Today, it maintains an extensive portfolio covering everything from stocks and gravies to gluten-free baking mixes.
Historically, Toro was the flagship brand of the family-owned Rieber & Søn Group for over six decades. However, in 2013, the Norwegian food giant Orkla acquired Rieber & Søn, bringing Toro under its massive consumer staples umbrella. Under Orkla's ownership, the brand has continued to evolve, focusing heavily on modern dietary needs such as plant-based and low-salt alternatives while maintaining its primary production hub at Arna in Bergen, Norway.
