Clover is one of South Africa's most iconic and established dairy brands, with roots dating back to the late 19th century. Originally established as a dairy cooperative among farmers in the Natal region, it evolved over decades into a major industrial processor of milk, cream, cheese, and beverages. The company is widely recognized for its high-quality fresh milk and extensive distribution network across Southern Africa.

In recent years, the brand underwent a significant ownership change. Following a major acquisition in 2019, Clover is now primarily owned by Milco SA, a consortium led by the International Beverage Investment Group (IBIG). This transition marked a shift from a locally-owned cooperative structure to being part of an international investment portfolio, while maintaining its primary manufacturing and operations within South Africa to serve the domestic and regional markets.
