Bertolli is one of the world's most iconic olive oil brands, established in 1865 by Francesco Bertolli and his wife Caterina in Lucca, Tuscany, Italy. Originally founded as a small grocery store selling local products, it eventually specialized in olive oil and became the first brand to export Italian olive oil to the United States.

Today, while the brand maintains its historical Italian identity, the olive oil itself is sourced and produced in multiple countries across the Mediterranean basin, including Spain, Italy, Greece, and Tunisia, to ensure consistent quality and supply.

The brand has undergone several changes in ownership. In 2008, Unilever sold its olive oil division, including Bertolli, to the Spanish food giant Deoleo, S.A. Consequently, the ultimate owner of the Bertolli olive oil brand is now Deoleo, headquartered in Rivas-Vaciamadrid, Spain. It is important to note that the Bertolli name is also used for frozen meals and pasta sauces, but those divisions are owned by different companies (Conagra Brands and Mizkan, respectively).
