Iglo is one of Europe's most prominent frozen food brands, widely recognized for its high-quality vegetable and fish products. The brand originated in Germany in the 1950s as part of the Unilever group, aiming to revolutionize the preservation of fresh produce through deep-freezing technology. Today, it is particularly famous for its 'Captain Iglo' (Käpt'n Iglo) marketing icon.
While the brand has its roots in Germany, its ownership has transitioned over the decades. In 2015, the Iglo Group was acquired by Nomad Foods, a British-based company that has since become the largest frozen food company in Europe. Nomad Foods manages several iconic brands including Birds Eye in the UK and Findus in various other European markets. Manufacturing for Iglo products, such as these green beans with bacon, takes place in various European facilities, with significant production centers located in Germany (such as Reken) to serve the DACH region markets.
