Navman is a well-established brand in the GPS and dashcam industry, originally founded in New Zealand in 1986 by Peter Maire. The brand initially gained global recognition for its marine electronics and satellite navigation systems. Throughout its history, Navman has undergone several significant corporate transitions, eventually being acquired by the Brunswick Corporation and later by the MiTAC Digital Technology Corporation.
Today, Navman operates as a key brand under MiTAC, a Taiwanese electronics powerhouse. The MiVue series, including the Rider DC shown in the image, represents their modern lineup of dashcams designed for both cars and motorcycles. While the brand has its roots in New Zealand and maintains a strong presence in the Australia and New Zealand markets, its manufacturing and research and development are primarily integrated into MiTAC's global operations, with most production occurring in China more recently.
