Cune (Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España) is one of the most iconic brands in the Rioja wine region. Founded in 1879 in the town of Haro, La Rioja, the brand was established by brothers Eusebio and Raimundo Real de Asúa. The name "Cune" actually originated from a misspelling of the initials CVNE on their early labels, which eventually became the official flagship brand.

To this day, the company remains primarily under the control of the founding family, now in its fifth generation. The production takes place in their historic cellars in Haro, where they combine traditional Rioja winemaking techniques with modern innovation. CVNE is a publicly-traded company on the Spanish stock exchange, though the Real de Asúa family maintains a significant controlling interest, ensuring the brand stays true to its Spanish roots and heritage.
