Marantz is a legendary brand in the high-end audio world, established in 1953 by Saul Marantz in New York. The brand's identity is deeply rooted in 'The Most Musical Sound,' a philosophy that has guided its engineering for over seven decades. While it began as an American company, its heart moved to Japan in the late 20th century, particularly through its partnership with Standard Radio Corp and later acquisitions.
Today, Marantz is a premium subsidiary under the Sound United umbrella, which was recently acquired by HARMAN International, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Samsung Electronics. This transition to HARMAN, expected to be fully integrated by 2026, positions Marantz alongside other iconic audio brands like Denon and Bowers & Wilkins. High-end Marantz components, such as the Cinema series receivers and flagship amplifiers, are meticulously crafted at the Shirakawa Audio Works in Japan, while other consumer-grade models are manufactured in advanced facilities across Southeast Asia.
