Cadbury Astros are a well-known confectionery product consisting of candy and chocolate-coated biscuit bites. Originally launched in the United Kingdom and Ireland in 1997, the brand became particularly iconic in South Africa, which remains one of its primary manufacturing hubs and markets.
The Cadbury brand itself traces its roots back to 1824 in Birmingham, England, founded by John Cadbury. Throughout the 20th century, Cadbury expanded globally, eventually merging with Schweppes in 1969 to form Cadbury Schweppes. In 2010, the company was acquired by the American multinational Kraft Foods, which later spun off its snack food division into what is now known as Mondelēz International.
Today, Cadbury Astros are owned by Mondelēz International, headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, USA. While the brand has a rich British heritage, its global distribution and production are managed through various regional subsidiaries under the Mondelēz corporate umbrella.
