Milka is one of the world's most iconic chocolate brands, easily recognized by its distinctive lilac packaging and the Simmental cow 'Lola.' The brand was originally created in Switzerland in 1901 by Philippe Suchard as a combination of 'Milch' (milk) and 'Kakao' (cocoa). While it began as a Swiss delicacy, its production has expanded significantly across Europe over the last century.
Today, Milka is produced in several European locations to serve global markets, including major facilities in Lörrach (Germany), Bludenz (Austria), and Svoboda (Ukraine). The raw milk used for its signature Alpine recipe is sourced from carefully selected regions in the Alps. Since 2012, the brand has been under the ownership of the American multinational snacking giant Mondelez International, which continues to maintain its European heritage while distributing the product to over 40 countries worldwide.
