Today, while the Hitachi brand name remains Japanese in origin, the global air conditioning operations are transitioning as part of major corporate restructuring. Following recent agreements, the ultimate ownership for the residential and light commercial HVAC business is moving toward the Bosch Group, a German multinational, which is acquiring the global interests of the Johnson Controls-Hitachi joint venture.
