Costa Coffee is a prominent British multinational coffeehouse chain. Founded in London in 1971 by brothers Sergio and Bruno Costa, it grew to become the largest coffee house chain in the United Kingdom and one of the most recognized global coffee brands.
While the coffee beans are roasted at the Costa Coffee Roastery in Basildon, Essex (UK), the final beverage is prepared locally at retail sites or through automated machines. In 2019, the brand underwent a significant ownership change when it was acquired from Whitbread by The Coca-Cola Company. This acquisition has allowed the brand to expand its reach globally, integrating Costa’s coffee expertise with Coca-Cola’s vast distribution network.
