Pantene is one of the world's most recognized haircare brands, celebrated for its Pro-V (pro-vitamin) formula. Originally inspired by the discovery of Panthenol's strengthening properties in Switzerland during WWII, it was developed by Hoffman-La Roche before making its market debut in 1945.
Over the decades, Pantene has transitioned through various corporate acquisitions, most notably becoming part of Richardson-Vicks, which was subsequently acquired by Procter & Gamble in 1985. Today, under P&G's stewardship, the brand maintains a global manufacturing presence with large-scale production facilities in the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Thailand, and various European countries to serve regional consumer demands.
As of 2024 and beyond, the brand remains a flagship asset for Procter & Gamble, dominating the performance-shampoo segment. Its distribution network spans across every continent, often managed through local P&G subsidiaries that handle region-specific marketing and supply chain logistics.
