Originally created as a powdered gravy mix by the Kreglinger family, it quickly became known for its ability to produce smooth, lump-free gravy, earning it the reputation of "Australia's Favourite." Over the decades, the product line expanded beyond traditional gravies to include various instant sauce mixes, such as the cheese sauce featured in the image.

The brand has undergone several ownership transitions throughout its history. For many years, it was a flagship brand of Cerebos Australia. In 2018, the Kraft Heinz Company acquired Cerebos' food and instant coffee business in Australia and New Zealand, which included Gravox. Today, Gravox continues to be primarily manufactured in Australia, maintaining its heritage while being managed under the global umbrella of Kraft Heinz.
