Cholula, widely recognized for its iconic hot sauce, was originally founded in Chapala, Jalisco, Mexico, and named after the oldest still-inhabited city in the country. The brand, which once belonged to the Jose Cuervo family, saw a significant shift in its history when it was acquired by L Catterton. In 2020, the American spice giant McCormick & Company reached an agreement to purchase Cholula for $800 million. Today, McCormick manages the brand's global distribution and product expansion, including seasoning mixes like the one shown. While the brand remains deeply rooted in Mexican culinary heritage, manufacturing for international markets often takes place in various regional facilities across Europe and North America to meet local demand efficiently.
