Ptasie Mleczko is one of Poland's most iconic confectionery products, consisting of a soft, milk-based souffle or marshmallow center covered in a thin layer of chocolate. The name translates to 'Bird's Milk,' a term in Slavic folklore referring to a rare delicacy. The product was first created in 1936 by Jan Wedel, the grandson of the founder of the E. Wedel company, following his travels to France where he was inspired by similar light treats.

The manufacturing of Ptasie Mleczko is primarily concentrated in the E. Wedel factory located in Warsaw, Poland. This facility maintains the traditional recipe and production standards that have made the brand a household name in Central and Eastern Europe for generations. Despite changes in ownership over the decades, the production has remained deeply rooted in its Polish heritage.

Currently, the brand is owned by the Lotte Group, a South Korean multinational conglomerate. Lotte acquired the company in 2010 from Kraft Foods (which had to sell the brand due to antitrust regulations following its acquisition of Cadbury). Under Lotte's ownership, the Wedel brand continues to operate as a premium confectionery leader, exporting its famous Ptasie Mleczko to international markets while maintaining its cultural identity as a Polish national treasure.
