Duracell is one of the world's leading manufacturers of high-performance alkaline batteries, specialty cells, and rechargeables. The brand traces its roots back to the 1920s through a partnership between scientist Samuel Ruben and businessman Philip Rogers Mallory, forming the P.R. Mallory Company. The Duracell brand name itself was introduced in 1964.

Over the decades, Duracell has undergone several ownership changes. It was owned by Kraft Foods and later Gillette, which was subsequently acquired by Procter & Gamble in 2005. In 2016, Berkshire Hathaway, the multinational conglomerate led by Warren Buffett, officially acquired Duracell from Procter & Gamble.

While Duracell has manufacturing facilities in various locations including the United States, Belgium, and Mexico, many of its specialty alkaline products like the MN21 (A23) batteries are manufactured in China to meet global demand. The brand is globally recognized by its 'Copper Top' branding and the iconic Duracell Bunny mascot.
