Originally established by Sir Thomas Lipton, the brand revolutionized the tea industry by making quality tea accessible to the general public through innovative packaging and sourcing. Over the decades, it has become a global household name, synonymous with black and iced teas.

In a major corporate shift in 2022, Unilever sold its tea division, including Lipton, to a dedicated company called Ekaterra. Shortly after, CVC Capital Partners acquired Ekaterra, which was subsequently renamed LIPTON Teas and Infusions. Today, the brand is managed under this entity, maintaining its global presence while sourcing tea from various regions including Kenya, Sri Lanka, and India to ensure consistency across international markets.
