Hunter is a heritage brand iconic for its waterproof footwear and outdoor apparel. The brand's journey began in 1856 with the establishment of the North British Rubber Company in Edinburgh, Scotland. Known for its innovation in rubber manufacturing, the company famously produced heavy-duty boots for soldiers during both World Wars, eventually receiving its first Royal Warrant in 1977. The 'Original Tall' boot remains its most recognizable product, symbolizing British countryside fashion.
In recent years, the brand transitioned from a traditional Scottish manufacturer to a global fashion entity. Following financial restructuring in 2023, the brand was acquired by Authentic Brands Group. While the brand’s design heritage remains rooted in the United Kingdom, manufacturing is primarily outsourced to facilities in Asia, specifically China, to meet global demand and maintain technical production standards at scale.
