Sawade Pralines and Chocolates

Sawade is Berlin's oldest praline manufactory, established in 1880. The brand began its journey when Ladislaus Ziemkiewicz opened his first shop on the prestigious Unter den Linden boulevard, eventually becoming a purveyor to the Royal Court. To this day, the brand maintains its commitment to traditional craftsmanship and high-quality natural ingredients. All production takes place in Berlin-Reinickendorf, where the chocolates are handmade and hand-decorated. This local manufacturing process ensures that every piece meets the rigorous quality standards that have defined the brand for over 140 years.

Following a period of financial difficulty in 2013, the company was rescued by Benno and Melanie Hübel, who revamped the brand's identity while staying true to its heritage. They transitioned Sawade into a modern premium brand, utilizing sustainable packaging and fresh designs inspired by the 'Golden Twenties' in Berlin. Today, Sawade remains a family-owned, independent German company, standing as a testament to Berlin's rich culinary history and artisanal excellence.
