Coors is one of the most iconic beer brands in American history, founded in 1873 by German immigrant Adolph Coors in Golden, Colorado. Using water from the Rocky Mountains, the brewery became famous for its 'Banquet' beer and later revolutionized the industry with the introduction of the first all-aluminum beverage can in 1959. For over a century, the Coors Brewing Company operated as a family-owned entity, maintaining a single-brewery production model for its flagship products until the late 20th century.
In 2005, the brand underwent a significant corporate shift when the Coors Brewing Company merged with the Canadian brewing giant Molson to form Molson Coors. Today, the brand is managed under the Molson Coors Beverage Company, which maintains its North American headquarters in Chicago, Illinois. While the Golden, Colorado brewery remains a primary production hub and the largest single-site brewery in the world, Coors is manufactured in various facilities across North America and brewed under license internationally to serve global markets.
