Billys Pan Pizza, often referred to simply as Billys, is one of Sweden's most iconic convenience foods. It was launched in 1989 by the Gunnar Dafgård AB company, based in Källby, Sweden. The product was named after Gunnar Dafgård's son, Billy, and was inspired by the thick-crust pan pizzas popular in the United States.
Ever since its inception, Billys has been manufactured in Källby, Sweden. The facility is a massive production hub where hundreds of thousands of pizzas are produced daily to meet the demand across Scandinavia and other parts of Europe. Despite its international popularity, the production remains deeply rooted in its original Swedish location, utilizing local expertise and industrial processes to maintain its unique texture and taste.
Billys is owned and produced by Gunnar Dafgård AB (Dafgårds), which remains a family-owned Swedish company. Unlike many other major food brands that have been acquired by multinational conglomerates, Dafgårds has retained its independence, ensuring that the brand remains under Swedish ownership. The company is currently led by the family's third generation, continuing the legacy of original founder Gunnar Dafgård.
