Wessex Water is a regional water and sewerage utility company serving a large area of South West England, including Dorset, Somerset, Bristol, and parts of Wiltshire and Gloucestershire. Originally established as a public regional water authority in 1973, it was privatized in 1989 along with the rest of the regional water authorities in England and Wales.
Since 2002, Wessex Water has been wholly owned by the YTL Corporation, a Malaysian infrastructure conglomerate. Despite its foreign ownership, the company remains headquartered in Bath, UK, and is regulated by Ofwat to ensure service standards and environmental compliance for its millions of customers. The company operates a vast network of water mains and sewers, processing billions of liters of water and waste daily.
