Voltaren is a widely recognized brand of anti-inflammatory medication featuring the active ingredient diclofenac. The brand was originally developed in Switzerland by Ciba-Geigy, which later became part of Novartis. It has since become one of the world's most popular over-the-counter and prescription topical treatments for joint and muscle pain.
In recent years, the ownership of Voltaren's consumer healthcare division underwent a significant change. Following a joint venture between Novartis and GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), the brand eventually moved under the umbrella of Haleon. Haleon was spun off from GSK in 2022 as an independent global leader in consumer health. Manufacturing for the European market primarily takes place in specialized facilities in Germany and elsewhere in Europe, ensuring high quality and safety standards for the global market.
