New York Fries is a premium quick-service brand specializing in fresh-cut french fries and gourmet poutines. Despite its name, the company was actually founded in Brantford, Ontario, Canada, in 1983 by brothers Jay and Hal Gould. They purchased the rights to a concept they discovered at a local mall in New York City and expanded it into a major international franchise known for using high-quality sunflower oil and fresh Kennebec potatoes.
Today, the brand operates as a major player in the global food court market. Growth has been driven by both corporate-owned locations and a robust franchising model. While the potatoes are typically sourced locally within the regions where they operate to ensure freshness, the brand standards remain consistent across all international territories.
In 2015, the brand was acquired by Recipe Unlimited Corporation. This acquisition placed New York Fries under a massive corporate umbrella that manages several of Canada's most recognizable dining brands. The brand continues to expand both in North America and across the Middle East and Asia through strategic partnerships.
