Elan skis

Elan is a legendary brand in the world of alpine skiing, founded in 1945 by the innovator Rudi Finžgar in Slovenia (then part of Yugoslavia). The brand is globally recognized for pioneering several transformative technologies in the industry, most notably the 'carving' or 'parabolic' ski design in the 1990s which revolutionized how skiers turn.

The company manufactures the vast majority of its products at its historic headquarters and production facility in Begunje na Gorenjskem, Slovenia. This centralization allows Elan to maintain high quality control over its complex laminating and woodcore construction processes. Today, the brand continues to focus on technical advancements like their flagship Amphibio technology, which integrates dedicated left and right ski profiles.

Ownership of Elan has transitioned through several hands since its state-owned era. It is currently owned by the KJK Group, a Luxembourg-based private equity firm, through its specialized sporting goods holding company KJK Sports. This ownership structure provides the brand with the capital to maintain its position as one of the few remaining major ski manufacturers that still produces in the heart of the European Alps.
